What's The Hold Up?
Although the list may be extensive, here are 3 things we can define that can delay us from experiencing miraculous living. We approach God's Word without some key ingredients that are necessary for becoming a doer and not a hearer only.
We approach it without abandon...
And He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.” Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
We approach it without right intention...
Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.
Acts 8:22 (NASB)
We must approach Gods Word with right intentions. Simon the magician wanted to buy power for himself. Selfish ambition and self promotion won't get you anywhere with God. Likewise, you can't make God say what you want Him to say. You have to take His Word as it is—rightly dividing it. Misuse of scripture is false teaching and sin against God.
We approach it without belief...
"...It shall come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, and the waters which are flowing down from above will stand in one heap.”
Joshua 3:13
You have to take the step to believe Him. The world says, "I have to see it to believe it." The Christian must believe in order to see. By an act of your will you choose to hear God's Word and do it. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6
Take a step of faith. Obey God when it costs. Be faithful even when it hurts. Then you will see Jesus manifest Himself to you (Recommended reading - John 14:14-27, read it slowly and listen).
