Misrepresented?
When people cross your path, Who do they see? John the Baptist quoted the prophet Isaiah;
Luke 3:5-6 (NASB)
‘EVERY RAVINE WILL BE FILLED,
AND EVERY MOUNTAIN AND HILL WILL BE BROUGHT LOW;
THE CROOKED WILL BECOME STRAIGHT,
AND THE ROUGH ROADS SMOOTH;
AND ALL FLESH WILL SEE THE SALVATION OF GOD.’”
When people come across your path, it should not be hard for them to get to Jesus. You should be a straight path to Him.
I was visiting a Christian school recently and pulled into the parking lot not far from the carpool line. One of the teachers angrily asked me to go another direction. Little did she know that I was parking near where I entered the parking lot. She looked frustrated. I ran my errand, got back in the car, and headed across the parking lot toward the office. I wasn't near any carpool lines but the teacher stomped toward my car and exasperatedly stopped me. She said, "We have two carpool lines going. Could you just exit where you entered?" I said, "I'm headed to the office." Another look of frustration came across her face as she said, "Ok."
Whether you are representing a Christian school, a place of employment, or even a church body your life should demonstrate that you are a person who walks in the Spirit. As a believer you can approach any situation with God's perspective if you choose it. Love, joy, peace, gentleness...are all available at any moment of the day because that is who Christ is in you. Is He not powerful? Is He not able in a repentant moment, to wash your spirit clean and give you the gifts He placed in you when you were born into the Kingdom of God?
Represent the Kingdom with such love for others that they enjoy entering your world. Let others see Jesus in you. There's no time to waste and we have opportunities to impress upon others the true love of Christ. We have all met those who it's just a joy to be around. Be that one. If you have been misrepresenting who Jesus is, all it takes is a moment of repentance to move from a bad attitude to being filled with His Spirit.
Ephesians 3:19 (NASB)
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up
to all the fullness of God.
