Well, What Do You Know?
2 Timothy 3:7 (NASB)
always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Consistent time in prayer and in God’s Word will help you avoid jumping from one belief to another. God desires you to be confident about Him and to know what it is that He wants. He wants you to understand His way. If you understand His way you will not have to seek this religion or that religion, this way of worship or that way of worship, this belief system or that belief system. Reassurance comes from knowing God and peace comes from living what He has told you (Isaiah 32:17). Many go from conservative to contemporary, formal to informal because they are searching. God has already spoken. When we avoid time in His Word, avoid looking at our sin, and ignore what He is said we will search for something. A subtle dissatisfaction will drive us to seek out something that will make us feel good. Changing churches or adopting a new belief system can bring temporary relief. In your own power you will believe you have now accomplished something. Once the honeymoon is over you will begin to doubt your decision and begin the process over again.
Unwavering faith, consistency, grasping what God says in His Word, abiding in Him, spending time with Him, praying for understanding, asking for wisdom, standing firm in faith, being strong in the Lord, resisting temptations, being steadfast, taking heart, guarding your heart, believing what you can’t see, obeying when it doesn’t make sense...all of these are characteristics of perseverance. There is only One Truth.
John 14:6 (NASB)
Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Luke 8:15 (NASB)
But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.
Romans 5:3-4 (NASB)
And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;
