Friendship with God

Psalm 38:15
But for you, oh Lord, do I wait;
It is You, oh Lord, my God, who will answer.

 Those who are in Christ, have a unique friendship with God, developed in the context of His covenant with us. It is close, honest, encouraging, edifying, meaningful, and joyful. It is a real friendship.

In any such relationship, sometimes we have to apologize.

The words, “ I’m sorry”, go along way.

Especially if we mean them.

Remorse is not a pleasant emotion, but it helps us to understand the gravity of our mistakes, and reminds us we do not want to make the same mistake again. In a friendship with God, a mistake is called a “sin” and there is no other way to deal with sin, then to repent.

Godly sorrow over our sins, and turning from wrong behavior (sin), is turning back to God and gives us true freedom.

Refusing to repent, or trying to manage our sin using the world’s methods may give some temporary relief, however, the cancerous nature of sin will continue to grow, if not handled God‘s way through repentance...a turning away from our sinfulness and desire to do life our own way.

There is one right way, and that is God‘s way.  He loves us so much and wants a close, personal friendship with each of us.

Take the time to examine your heart today and let God show you the areas He wants to clean up, then be prepared to repent.

It will be for your highest good and His glory!
