Without a Doubt

Mark 6:1-6 (ESV)

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief.

And he went about among the villages teaching.

Jesus wants us to believe him. He was so familiar to the people around him that they missed who he really was. He could have done so much more for these people had they had a better attitude. Disregarding Jesus is disobedience. Nothing comes to disobedience except discipline. I have experienced that discipline does not have to look like the discipline that comes from a parent. Although God certainly disciplines those he loves, I think sometimes discipline from God can be that you just don’t get to experience all that he has to offer; goodness and peace, love and joy. Sometimes you just don’t get the benefit of what he could be doing in your life. Love him back. Believe in him and live out his teachings. Take what he taught and obey it in your moments. This shows you believe. Satan wants to crush any belief you have and sabotage the miracles that God has planned to deliver through you. Belief and action go together. Doubt and inactivity hinders. Can you imagine a seed that doesn’t believe it can sprout and make it through the soil although it has the power of the sun calling out to it? Without faith it is impossible to please God. He is a rewarder of those who believe.

Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Lord some moments are so hard to trust and believe that how you said to handle them will actually work. You are God and I am not. Will you help me to see the power of your miracle in my heart and my circumstances when I turn to you in obedience. In Jesus name, Amen
