The Simplicity in Christ
2 Corinthians 11:3
So, what is the “simplicity that is in Christ”?
It is the Gospel.
The Gospel message is the story of Jesus Christ.
It is God’s plan of salvation for fallen humanity.
It is a simple message, yet we often make it complicated and clouded with our own flawed human reasoning, which can keep ourselves and others away from the truth of who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16
God loved us so much, that even though He knew we would sin, He had a plan to save us, so that we could one day be perfected and be with Him for eternity.
Jesus came into this world to die for our sins; He was buried, and the third day He rose from the dead. It cost Him greatly, but for us, through faith in Him, it is simple. Because of His amazing grace and mercy on us, His great love for us and through His sacrifice, we are saved from the punishment we deserve, which is the eternal torture of hell and the absence of His presence.
The Gospel Truth…
* Jesus came into this world fully God & fully man. (Titus 2:13-14)
* He was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23)
* He went about His Father God’s work, teaching truth & healing (Acts 10:38)
* He died on the cross for our sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3); (2 Corinthians 5;21); (Hebrews 10:5-14)
* He was buried and raised to save us and is seated at the right hand of God currently, praying and interceding with God on our behalf. (Romans 8:34); (Mark 16:19; (Luke 22:69)
* Jesus will come again in power and in glory. (Matthew 24:30)
So, what then do we do with this Gospel truth?
Romans 10:9 sums it up.
“If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
